A court in Amiens reversed the double murder verdict against Pierre Goldman after a two week retrial and acquitted him. He had been accused in a case tied to his memoir Obscure Memories of a Polish Jew Born in France. Goldman had described police persecution and alleged lineup bias. The ruling follows petitions signed by over 10,000 French citizens and prominent figures, including former Prime Minister Pierre Mendes-France. He was, however, sentenced to 12 years for three holdups he admitted.
