City Council Debates Ambulance Service Abandonment Plan
City Manager Vickers pushes a private ambulance contract to save about 70 000 annually and shift city subsidy from 70 to roughly 10 000. The proposal envisions three district stations, two ambulances at downtown hub, direct police fire links, and a five year term starting Oct 1 1953 with bids for a new city ambulance. Monument to Miss Muffet to Be Preserved in England
The British government announced plans to preserve as a historic site the place where little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet eating curds and whey. The Muffet farm, long tied to the nursery rhyme, is described as a building of historical interest.
