Critics urge scrapping of new B-1 bomber program
A bipartisan coalition led by Congress for Peace Through Law urges canceling the B-1 bomber project. They warn it could cost up to 75 billion with little security gain and favor a subsonic missile-launching platform as a cheaper substitute. The group questions future viability amid advancing Soviet air defenses and notes potential big losses for North American Rockwell if canceled.
