A California poll shows candidate Brown leading rivals with 53 percent support, 36 percent for Reagan allies, and 11 percent undecided. Ed Davis, police chief, received 24 percent support among respondents.

He dodges questions on dating singer dads Ronstad and notes a “new spirit” and limited resources in his campaign themes. He says private life is others’ business while admitting a low apartment utility bill.
Commission representatives including executive Lesm and Dr Paul O Rourke confronted Procunier over hospital staffing and alleged shoddy work. The dispute turned confrontational as O Rourke challenged Procunier and questioned his qualifications amid hospital oversight tensions.
