Grayson panel rejects added food price controls

The Price Commission announced it would not recommend further controls on food prices but will monitor profit margins of supermarkets, wholesalers, and processors. Chairman C Jackson Grayson Jr said recent easing lessens the need for action now after hearings on food costs rising sharply.

Unemployed secretary wins case over boss rubbing

In Sacramento a 20 year old secretary who quit after she faced repeated offensive rubbing and personal questions was awarded unemployment compensation. She testified the actions continued despite complaints to the laboratory president who then cursed and yelled at her. The California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board affirmed the referee finding of intolerable working conditions and justified quitting.
