EPA Relaxed Boat Waste Standards After Lobby Pressure
The EPA agreed to weaken sanitation rules for human waste discharged from boats after boat owners mounted a large lobbying effort. The revised standards will require less treatment than initially proposed, with chlorinator devices likely allowed. Richard Schwartz of the Boat Owners Association said the changes reflect strong industry pressure and extensive protests.

FTC targets major computer schools over job claim fraud
The Federal Trade Commission accuses three large computer school chains of luring students with false promises of high paying jobs. Richard C. Foster notes that fewer than half of graduates obtain computer employment after paying 1000 to 2500 dollars for courses. Named defendants include Control Data Institutes, Lear Siegler Career Centers, and Electronic Computing Institute, with 50 to 400 enrollments each, advertising urgent demand and starting salaries from 8000 to 11000 dollars.
