Aith wedding anniversary celebration honored Mr. and Mrs. Alved Anderson of Long Beach. Married March 19, 1913, they have a daughter, a grandson, and two great granddaughters. Mr. Anderson retired as a barber in 1955 and was a professional baseball pitcher in Iowa. Mrs. Anderson belongs to several veterans and civic groups. A second couple, Mr. and Mrs. Russell G. Siggins, were feted on their golden anniversary at a La Mirada home. They married March 16, 1926, and have 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Their son-in-law and daughter hosted with other children in attendance.

Long Beach State International Dinner Draws Hundreds
The International Student Committee of Long Beach State University hosts its 10th annual dinner at 6 30 p m in the Student Union multi purpose room. In addition to global entrees from Mexico Thailand Vietnam India Israel and China the evening features belly dancing Israeli dancing a magic show singing and international dances. Proceeds help the International Student Loan Fund for foreign students. Tickets cost 4 50 general 3 50 student 2 50 child under 13 and are available at the International Education Center or by calling 1250 Bellflower Blvd.

In the 1976 U.S. International Team playoff finals Paul Soloway passed partner’s jump shift and was later judged right then wrong in reverse order. The line arose from a promise not to pass with a singleton in partner’s trump suit, yielding a contentious hand that produced a plus for Soloway in one table and a loss in another. Lew Stansby’s five clubs differed only by the absence of the pressure, yet the same late play failed to deliver. The result was a net 250 points for the two sides.
