Man pleads guilty in wife’s death at Long Beach trial

Jesse Hughes Wilkerson 28 pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter as defense evidence nears end in Long Beach Superior Court. He admitted that a dispute after a Catalina Island trip led to a fatal shooting of his wife Sylvia Wilkerson at their La Jara Street home, the gun firing as he checked it.

State board extends physician hearing into June

The State Medical Examiner's Board will continue the hearing into accusations against Dr. Robert C. Kelleher for at least three more days starting June 16. Hearing officer Jerome Schwimmer said the six days of testimony over three weeks will be followed by a full board review of the committee's findings.
