Senate defeats three Concorde ban proposals in landslide vote
The Senate rejected three amendments aimed at banning supersonic Concorde landings in the United States. A 60 to 31 vote banned all supersonic passenger landings except emergencies or tests, while 49 to 29 and 5 to 29 votes denied landings unless noise standards were met. The measure would have funded silencing subsonic jets and advance a larger aviation bill, with a House-Senate conference to resolve differences.
