Dr. Bernard Dimond testified Sirhan Bishara Sirhan was a paranoid schizophrenic in a highly abnormal psychotic state when Kennedy was shot. He described Sirhan as hypnotized in jail and unconsciously driven to murder, likening it to a computer program.
A Compton resident, David Manuel Jackson, 39, will be arraigned in Compton Municipal Court on a murder charge for the beating death of Cynthia Herron, 30. Herron died at Physicians and Surgeons Hospital after the assault Sunday night.
A third church fire in three days hits Lawndale and Hawthorne areas as investigators widen a probe into arson. The Adventist Church at 15331 S Prairie Ave Lawndale suffered about 10000 dollars in damage. The Hawthorne Church of Christ at 4585 W El Segundo Blvd Hawthorne and a Seventh day Adventist Church at 3939 W Compton Blvd Lawndale were damaged in prior blazes, with losses of 10000 and 250000 dollars respectively.
James Darrell Jarvis 20 of Bellflower surrendered to deputies near the United California Bank on Arkansas Avenue after a note passed to a teller demanding cash. The suspect claimed Bronze Star and Purple Heart honors for Vietnam service and was held for investigation after authorities recovered all the cash from the $597 holdup.
