Anti Smog Bills Pass Senate Panel In California
Senate Public Health Committee approved a series of anti smog bills aimed at Los Angeles County. Measures would empower Air Pollution Control District officers to preseat motorists emitting excess smoke and allow the district to regulate manufacture of devices to cut emissions. A bill ending weed burning exemptions and tightening real estate subdivision permits was debated. one proposal was amended to weaken current law. A new smog control device for testing will be available to LA authorities by month’s end. officials say most vehicle pollution occurs when a driver lifts off the gas.
