12 U.S. airmen identified after Vietnam war return

Army medical specialists in Hawaii verify the identities of 12 airmen whose remains were brought home from Vietnam. The Cen tral Identification Laboratory will compare remains with military health records before sending to the Army Mortuary in Oakland. The 35 minute ceremony at Hickam marked the return of the bodies, identified by Hanoi and listed by the Vietnamese government earlier. The five member White House commission led by Leonard Woodcock will return to Washington. The names include Navy and Air Force officers across several states.

Hit and run collision injures four Long Beach residents

Four elderly Long Beach residents were injured Sunday when their car was struck by a white hit and run vehicle at a residential intersection. Francis Fifer 74 of 262 West Compton Avenue was stunned and could not explain the crash at 9 40 AM on Molino Avenue as a white car moving west on Second Street sped away. Elfer and his passengers Louise 69 Thelmad Spader 67 of 2420 East 5th Street were in fair but stable condition at Community Hospital. Theresa Wuytens 39 of 485 Temple Avenue was listed in serious condition and in intensive care with internal injuries. Police have no suspects and are not sure who was at fault.
