Mazda charged with shady ad practices

The DMV in Sacramento filed false and misleading advertising charges against Mazda Motors of America Inc. The suit claims Mazda advertises 42 1 a gallon while California cars with stricter smog devices rate only 37 miles per gallon. Mania spokesman Compton could not immediately comment. The DMV noted a prior suit against General Motors led to changes in its ads.
