Juvenile wards moved after Hayes inspection at Lakeside Lodge

Supervisor James Hayes said 39 youths aged 9 to 17 are being removed from Lakeside Lodge Placement Home Riverside County. The action follows an unanounced visit and a Grand Jury report, with 12 other homes suspended and 30 flagged for immediate improvements. Hayes plans a nine-agency task force to oversee placements.

Long Beach man sentenced in manslaughter case

Danny Edward Scott, 31, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the triangle slaying of Thomas Leroy Long and given one year in county jail. Judge Ernest Kelly ordered five years probation and counseling, with 115 days already served credited and possible further reduction for good behavior.
