Ban Lifted on Bridge Star's Play
The American Contract Bridge League reversed itself and withdrew its ban on Tobias Stone of New York to play in the National Bridge Tournament and Vanderbilt Trophy event in Seattle. Winslow Randall said the board will decide in July whether to drop all charges, and New York Supreme Court actions were nullified. Stone apologized for friction and said his actions were well meant though not always wise. The charges stemmed from last year’s World Bridge Championships when the U S team, with Stone, lost to Italy and he accused the Italians of cheating.
