Teachers seek 5 million dollar pay raise in ABC district
A proposed teachers salary and benefits package presented to ABC Unified School District trustees calls for a base pay increase near 15 percent costing about 2 million, plus step advances and benefits for substitutes. Life insurance and district funded medical exams for new or position-changing teachers are included. The plan, backed by Carl Rogers, faces skepticism from Trustee George Woodworth and requires study by the board without new state funds. The Teachers Association also seeks exclusive bargaining recognition with Supt Hutcheson, to be filed by April 1 with majority support.
