High-Flying Brothers Build Home Plane in Garage
Grady and John Day, ages 41 and 48, built a single seat open cockpit airplane in their garages. After two years and 2600 dollars, they report 110 mph cruise, 800 ft per minute climb, 12 g stress tolerance, and stall speed of 55 mph. They designed and assembled every part except the 85 hp Continental engine and promise not to sell the craft.
