Secret Service says threat files include some protest leaders
Secret Service director David R. MacDonald told a House subcommittee that about 47 000 people may be in protective intelligence files. He said the files are not for listing political dissidents but for those drawn to attention by disruptive activity. Rep Bella Abzug pressed on whether Vietnam era Quaker protesters would appear in the files, noting they may already be listed.
