Prairie Fire Fights Nebraska Blaze in Eight Hour Battle

A prairie fire threatened Lakeside and the surrounding ranching community as 75 residents fled. Winds up to 60 mph spread dust across the central and southern plains, with the blaze burning tinder and haystacks over a ten mile by three mile area. Only one unoccupied home was destroyed as crews contained the fire after an eight hour effort.
