Anti pirate net playground joins Artesia school scene
In Artesia the new playground feature uses a modern aluminum steel net inspired by nautical boarding nets. Three Artesia mothers proposed the idea to the Mothers Club, which funded and coordinated volunteers to install the curved net, now a hit with 275 preschool and early grade children on opening week.

Property tax relief backed by Orange County supervisors
Orange County supervisors endorsed a seven point property tax reform plan from the Property Tax Reform Committee. It calls for heavier levies on banks and corporations, limits on homeowner tax increases, abolishing business inventory tax, and raising the homeowners exemption from 1750 to 5000 to reduce property assessments. A split tax roll was proposed but deemed impractical by Assessor Bradley Jacobs.
