The Price Commission extended the rate freeze for electric, telephone, telegraph, gas firms and other regulated carriers to March 25. The move buys time to refine regulations that were deemed too vague and to study needed increases for continued service and capital expansion.
The House approved a bill 303 to 110 to authorize federal court enforcement of the anti discrimination statute and extend coverage to government employees including teachers police and firefighters. The measure also lowers private sector coverage to 15 employees and expands EEOC jurisdiction beyond persuasion.
