Therell Be No Lottery Says Hebert In Draft Debates
Washington Upilated report states a presidential commission backed lottery style draft selection from a pool of 18 year olds while older men would be called later. Critics including Rep Hebert oppose lotteries but suggest modified student deferments remain possible amid looming Johnson proposals. Supporters warn against relying on chance and favor more voluntary enlistments. The panel headed by Burke Marshall challenged existing deferments and argued for broader change.
