Test Flight Safety Proposals Under Review
Washington U P The men who build and test fly airplanes drafted tentative safety proposals for flight testing. The Aircraft Industries Assn will present them to the Civil Aeronautics Board later this month after a two day closed door conference called following the June 34 collision near Los Angeles between a Douglas DC-3 and a Northrop jet fighter. Five of the six in the two planes died along with three schoolyard children. Tests, discussions with Air Force Navy and airline reps continued as CAB regulations issued February 20 prohibited night seating except over open water or sparsely settled areas. The CAB set an April 15 deadline for possible amendments and a public hearing for the collision cause will be held March 20 at the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel.
