Marines to Leave Vietnam in Two Units Totaling 1355
The U S Marine Corps will withdraw 1355 men from Vietnam. The 1175-man 2nd Battalion of the 5th Marine Regiment and 200-man headquarters unit ceased operations for deployment to Camp Pendleton California. The move follows another announced reduction including 3280 Army troops. The 5th Marines first arrived in early 1966.

Filibuster defeats in Senate stalls rule change

First Church at Grave of Jesus Discovered
In Jerusalem a Greek archaeologist named Athanasios Economopoulos reports finding remains of the original church on the site believed to hold Jesus grave. He says the church was built in 355 by Constantine the Great and located inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the walled city.

Nixon seeks $500 million in crime aid for states

Union Boss Boyle Indicted on Embezzlement Charges
United Mine Workers President W. A. Tony Boyle, 66, was indicted on 13 counts for embezzling union funds and routing 49250 to 11 political committees.
