Long Beach Marina Slips Freeze Up as 7000 Wait List Grows
Long Beach waterfront land remains submerged under ten feet of water while over seven thousand boaters wait for marina slips. The 1,832-slip Long Beach Marina is run with a strict system to prevent leapfrogging and ensure slips go to owners, not boats. Rates are kept low at 90 cents to 1.10 per foot, with a proposed rise but still below external marinas. The facility offers showers, restaurants, guards, and protected moorings, drawing many outsiders and boosting local commerce.
