Former police officer convicted in wife death and assault
Manuel Pacheco, a 24 year old former Los Angeles police officer and Medal of Valor recipient, was found guilty in Los Angeles Superior Court of involuntary manslaughter in his estranged wife Anita 24 and assault with a deadly weapon against her companion Alfred Thatcher 27 of Torrance. The seven seven person jury deliberated seven hours after hearing a taped interview and testimony including a psychiatrist’s opinion that Pacheco was unconscious at the time.
