Survives Shock of Surgery King George VI Fight For Life
King George VI of Great Britain survived the initial shock of a major lung operation performed early Sunday. Doctors warned it will take three or four days to determine if he remains out of danger as authorities called the period touch and go. Crowds outside Buckingham Palace dispersed after no new bulletins were issued overnight. The king’s condition was described as satisfactory and strengthening in the day’s bulletin.
