In Newberg Oregon on September 3 a two year old girl named Marie Payne was saved after four hours of frantic rescue work by about 30 rescuers. The child was pulled from a narrow backyard well and then from a parallel dug hole. She was taken to Willamette Hospital in very good condition, semi conscious, cold, in shock, and mud covered.
