Truman Certifies Dispute to WSB and Union Plans
President Truman certifies the dispute to the Wage Stabilization Board. UAW CIO leaders say weekend talks are planned with Long Beach officials and Washington officers. The Long Beach bargaining committee will stay through the Tuesday meeting before presenting decisions to local members. A WSB plan statement is expected before Tuesday.

Car Plunges Off Long Beach Pontoon Span
Four Long Beach youths escaped a sinking 1951 sedan after it plunged off the W Seaside Blvd pontoon bridge at dawn. The teens, Par tum son of 620 Ultima Ave Humphries 17, 103 Rivo Alto Canal Henry Viets 16, 1550 Ramilte St Los Altos, and Richard Lane 17 241 Glendora Ave, were treated for shock and exposure at Seaside Hospital. The car struck from behind by Charles Kay 21 of Anaheim shattered the left front window, allowing escape as the vessel sank. They had been returning from a Wilson Alhambra high school football game and planned to spend the night on Terminal Island. A recovery effort to raise the vehicle was planned for today.
