Woman Killed Crossing Seventh Street in Long Beach

Grace Bartholomew of Torrance was struck and killed while walking across Seventh Street at Linden. She was Long Beach’s 30th traffic fatality and 13th pedestrian death this year. Her husband William, 60, was injured. Driver Robert Sevilla, 19, of East 17th Street, was not cited. Another motorist, John Turner, 32, was treated for minor injuries after swerving into a parked car to avoid a collision.

Police stenographer booked on forgery charges

An attractive stenographer, a police department employee for two years, was among three arrested on forgery suspicions yesterday. Selma Davidson, 26, of 1 B10 Chestnut Ave., admitted asking 20 checks totaling $1600 drawn on a fictitious account.

Skylight Fall Paralyze Parade Viewer Injures Rooftop Chaser

Ronald G MeEwan age 18 residing at 1640 East 61st Street slipped through a skylight at the Newhouse Cafe on Fourth Street while attempting to attend an All Western Band Review. He sustained severe injuries to his right thigh and was taken to Seaside Hospital by emergency crew after a rope rescue. Attendants said a tendon may be severed and the incident came amid city storm disruption with widespread industrial and transportation impacts.
