Cohen Faces Tax Evasion Charge
Washington reports the Internal Revenue Service is near completing an income tax evasion case against Mickey Cohen of Los Angeles. Senator Kefauver said a federal grand jury may hear the case in Los Angeles in three to four weeks and noted other figures from West Coast hearings face probes or prosecutions for tax issues. Cohen admitted being broke when questioned.

Out of Gas Craft Flips Over in Field
A plane piloted by Lowell Anderson crash landed in an open field near Long Beach Municipal Airport after fog and dwindling fuel. Anderson, his daughter Meridet, brother Bruce, and sister-in-law Barbara suffered only minor cuts and bruises. The flight from Delano to Long Beach ended with a 5 03 p.m. emergency landing as visibility collapsed.
