EL TORO Calif Nov 18 Four men aboard a twin engine Marine Corps SNB aircraft were reported missing eight hours after losing radio contact with the control tower. The plane was on a cross country flight from Tucson Arizona to El Toro via El Centro and was last heard from near El Toro.
A captured Chinese Communist soldier said today that he and 15 fellow soldiers surrendered when they realized they were fighting Americans. The report, filed from Pyongyang, Korea, dated November 18, notes the group surrendered after perceiving the opposing forces as U S troops.

Actress Elizabeth Taylor and her young husband Conrad Hilton Jr were among 55 passengers uninjured when a TWA Constellation skidded on a rain slick runway at Long Beach Municipal Airport. The plane, en route from Los Angeles to New York, attempted an emergency landing after engine trouble, then crashed through a fence and stopped near eucalyptus trees. Co pilot Bert Scharr and pilot Melvin Bowen struggled to regain control as the jet slid 120 feet past the fence. damage was slight. Other celebrities aboard included Nancy Olson, Universal- International head Nate Blumberg and wife, Ward Bond, and director John Ford. Taylor was bound for Chicago to attend Harvest Ball. Hilton to meet his father Conrad Hilton in New York.
