Democratic incumbent Clyde Doyle trails Republican Craig Hosmer by 12,13 votes in unofficial counts across 548 precincts of the 18th Congressional District. Hosmer leads 93,207 to 42,420 in the 69th, 70th and 111st districts, with Doyle carrying the 69th by 14,150 votes. Absentee ballots remaining may not alter the result. Doyle's total stands at 4,420 to Hosmer's 93,207 in the assembly districts.

22 Bodies Retrieved From Northwest Airliner Crash
Butte Montana November 8 Northwest Airlines flight from Chicago to Seattle crashed into a mountain peak above Butte. Searchers found 22 passengers and crew dead and volunteers scaled the 8400 foot peak to recover the bodies carried down by a Northern Pacific work train after a four hour grimy trek.
