Allies Strike Hard in Korea Kill 7154 in Week

In Korea the Eighth Army says it killed 48,181, wounded 23,366 and captured 3,211 in last month, with seven to 14 Communist divisions destroyed. Heaviest fighting centered in Yonchon hills north of Seoul as rockets played a role. U.N. forces inflicted 11,196 casualties in the week Oct 27 to Nov 2, including 7,154 enemy killed and 3,803 wounded.

Ike Declares He Authorized No Campaign

Eisenhower says he conferred with Truman and others on European rearmament but he has not authorized anyone to campaign for him in the 1952 Republican nomination. He refused to discuss military talks and said politics did not enter into his conversations with officials. He emphasized he would not back any campaign effort.

Son of J B Woman Dies in B 26 Crash

The pilot son of a Long Beach woman was killed when an Army B 26 Invader bomber crashed during takeoff at Langley Field Virginia. Lt William K Clem ents of Buckroe Beach Virginia was the deceased son of Mrs Flora Putman of Long Beach. Another pilot also died and a crewman was injured.

About 1400 striking longshoremen massed at the balloting place to day and blocked a decisive vote on ending the $1,000,000 New York Port tieup as it entered its fourth week.

Couple Sentenced in Forgery Case

A husband and wife were jailed on forgery charges after pleading guilty to issuing checks. Mildred P. Jolly received 30 days in county jail and three years probation. Walter V. Jolly was ordered to serve one to 14 years in San Quentin for multiple forged checks totaling $243.90.

Explosion at Bell Plant Kills Four in California

A gas fired oven explosion at Bell Plant in Maywood near Los Angeles killed four workers and injured several others. Victims include Arthur Frost 36 James McNairy 28 Roy Garris 51 who died at Maywood Hospital and Robert Breich 22 who died later at the hospital. Two others remained hospitalized in serious or critical condition. The blast occurred after an earlier 10 day earlier oven incident during testing. Fire units reported no fire.

Explosions Kill Two, Injure One in Suscon Plant Blast

In Scranton Pennsylvania on November 5 a pair of blasts at the Independent Explosives Co plant in Suscon killed two men and seriously injured another. A truck tied with TNT was also blown clear, damaging homes and stores up to sixty miles away. Loss to the plant is expected to reach $1,000 as thousands of windows were shattered in the Northeastern Pennsylvania towns nearby.
