Meteorite-like blaze lights 200 mile area over Southwest
A brilliant unearthly glow lit up about 200 miles across Arizona and New Mexico tonight, described by Sheriff J. Perry Francis as a bright object moving east to west. Civil Aeronautics radiomen reported plane flashes from Long Beach to Southern California between 8:01 and 9:30 p.m. with one Navy plane sighting a whitish green light at about 8,000 feet before it faded.
