Costello Tells Control of Tammany

Moon glow ring seen over town linked to weather

Hundreds watched a luminous unbroken ring around the moon last night. The Weather Bureau explained the arc is caused by moonlight refracting through ice crystals in high atmospheric clouds. Officials warned the ring often precedes rain or windy, tidal conditions.

Collision Causes Blast Near Lakewood and Artesia

A car driven by Allan R. Ferguson 24 of Temple City crashed into a sheriff's patrol car triggering a gas main rupture and a fire that destroyed several small businesses and damaged property of 23 people worth $30,000. Deputies Robert Kipper 19 Downey and M D Wert 28 Whittier were injured along with Ferguson's passengers Evelyn Janson 20 and Beverly McEwen 18 Hollywood with no serious injuries reported.
