A Long Beach man was jailed last night after being caught by a priest during a theft incident in Paramount. The unidentified suspect was apprehended at the scene and handed over to authorities for further proceedings.
Burglarizes Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church at 14815 Paramount Blvd. Items stolen and recovered include three pairs of rosary beads and a crucifix. Suspect Lawrence C. Barba, 43, a sewing machine repairman of 770 Via Wanda, told deputies he attempted the burglary due to irregular employment since the postwar closing of the Naval Shipyard on Terminal Island. Father Henry McHenry, 69, referenced.
