Eisenhower likely to win GOP renomination on second or third ballot
Denver dispatch reports General Dwight D. Eisenhower expected to secure the Republican presidential nomination on the second or third ballot at the national convention. Senator Henry Cabot Lodge, visiting Ike, predicted Taft’s support would fall short of the 12 delegates Taft claims from Iowa, Colorado and Oklahoma. Lodge indicated a major announcement to follow after talks with Eisenhower, planned for release later in the week in Chicago.
