Man released after shooting two youths at home
West shot two youths who were allegedly stealing hub caps from his car. Deputy District Attorney Ted Sten said West acted in defense of property and had no intent to kill. Richard TerHaar, 16, survived, Paul Thurlo, 17, was badly hurt. West had been held on assault with intent to murder.
