City Receives 175000 Bid for Water Site at Bellflower Corner
The city was offered 175000 for 15 acres of water department land at Bellflower Piva and Carson. Ernest H. Lockwood and Robert M. Devitt plan major real estate improvements if sold. They argue the sale funds could buy 65 acres of park elsewhere and, with taxes from the new development, support a new park. City Atty. Irving M. Smith notes selling authority lies with the Water Commission, and the City Council will refer the matter to the water board.
