Weekend diversions in Southland promise varied thrills
A busy Southland weekend offers a yacht race to Mexico, a two mile high mountain hike with views of both the Gulf of California and the Pacific, and dog shows in Long Beach. Weather will be pleasant with coastal fog giving way to sun and highs in the 70s. In Idyllwild the Summer Mountain Season highlights a 20 mile round trip to Mount San Jacinto, while other events include a Coronado Islands sail regatta, Lomita flower show, Huck Finn Day in Lawndale, a California Fiesta in Hollywood, and antique car displays in Oakland.
