AMA Debates on National Health Commission at Convention
At the AMA annual meeting in Chicago delegates approved a watered-down substitute denouncing the national health commission as politically motivated without judging its work until its December report. The body affirmed prior AMA board statements and backed avoiding endorsements of public office candidates while recalling language about a strategic shift. Magnuson accused the AMA of a costly publicity campaign against socialized medicine.
