Boxing analysis by author on weight classes and champions
The writer critiques current boxing divisions from lightweights to flyweights, praising Luther Rawlings of Chicago as the standout 135-pounder while labeling Laure Salas and Jimmy Carter as overhyped. Willie Pep is praised as the best featherweight, Saddler’s rough style criticized, and Pep’s era deemed unmatched. Flyweight prospects include Shirai as world champ and Ortega as a serious challenger in the 112-pound class. Overall fan interest rises thanks to television.
