Allied Withdrawal Below 38th Asked

Communist truce negotiators issued a five point armistice program before the Kaesong cease-fire talks resumed. The plan calls for a demilitarized zone six miles north and six miles south of the 38th Parallel and seeks withdrawal of foreign troops from Korea extending up to 26 miles from the frontline.

Heavily Armed Reds Patrol Kaesong Conference Site

In Seoul July reports say Communist soldiers armed with a range of weapons watched Allied convoys at a Kaesong landing site during a rat session of the Kaesong conference. Lt Harold W Moore flew a helicopter to Kaesong and described an exposed landing rim dotted with armed communists as Admiral Turner Joy and his party arrived to meet North Korean and Chinese guards.

Allied negotiators fly from U.N. camp toward Kaesong

Five helicopters carrying Allied negotiators lifted at 3:30 a.m. from the U.N. truce camp at Munsan, 15 miles below Kaesong, in a mission described as battlefront objectives 20 miles above the parallel. Maj. Gen. Kee COMMIES is noted stepping aboard a helicopter bound for Kaesong.

Council Moves to Keep $1 Tax Rate
