In Chicago's Convention Hall a 13 minute ovation for Herbert Hoover raised room temperature by five degrees. A press box thermometer registered Front 33 at BO degrees as the crowd roared.
A running gun battle in the U S sector ends with West German police pursuing two assailants who carried Dr Walter Linse an economic expert for the Free Jurists Investigation Committee past a Soviet frontier. US Berlin Commandant Maj Gen Lemuel A Mathews on protest to S A Dengin of the Soviet Berlin Control Commission.
