Pilots Named for Korea Truce Mission

Seoul July 7 Fifty airmen from UN negotiators head toward Kaesong for preliminary cease fire talks with the Communists. First Lt Harold W Moore of Cincinnati will pilot the big H-1 helicopter to the meeting and First Lt Ernest L MacQuarrie of Los Angeles will be on the other helicopter. They belong to the Third Air Rescue Squadron. A smaller helicopter will be piloted by Capt Danick J Miller of Stony Point NY with mechanic Tech Basil Boutright Canoga Park Calif carrying communications gear. Three other helicopters will stand by for emergencies.

UNITED NATIONS, July 6. Jacob A. Malik, spokesman for the Soviet peace bid at the United Nations, sailed for home leave as observers predicted a possible end to his UN career due to health. He left with his wife, Svetlana, their 10 crates of luggage, a governess, and a 13-year-old daughter.

Quick Accord May Stop All Shooting

Allied and Communist truce envoys head toward Kaesong for preliminary peace talks that could expand to all Korean fronts. A limited cease-fire is in effect and talks aim to begin July 10 with the possibility of an immediate halt to shooting. Hunt Kidnapper Seeks Stepdaughter After Abduction

Frank W. Kristy, 48, is hunted in Southern California after abducting his 20 year old stepdaughter Betty Jane to force her to witness his claimed death. Police fear a fatal outcome as detectives search for him across the region. He produced a gun during the incident and ordered the victim into a car before fleeing with three others.

Fire caused by defective wiring at Mayfair Market

Detective wiring was blamed yesterday for a half million blaze at Mayfair Market on Bellflower and Ramona in Bellflower. The fire began about 1 30 a m in electric wiring on the ninth side and was fought through dawn. Firemen saved 25000 in a safe, but most of the market was ruined. Built in 1949 the market cost about 300000. officials said no final building division yet.

Man admits love for stepdaughter and claims double tragedy

Kristy reportedly confessed loving Betty Jane Hansen, secretary for a glass company, and had previously abducted her at gunpoint from her mother Margaret and menaced her 13 year old sister Helen. Mrs Kristy recalled his statements and described the incident occurring around 7 p.m. on Thursday night.
