Welcome Home Rochester Crew Arrives at Pier B
Hundreds of families in Rochester greet the 1700 man crew of the USS Rochester as it arrives at Pier B marking nine months of Far East duty. After a week at Long Beach Harbor the heavy cruiser will head to Mare Island for overhaul under Capt. E. L. Woodyard. The ship carries nine eight inch guns, 12 five inch guns, 40 and 20 anti aircraft cannons and was commissioned in December 1946.
