Non-Combat Accidents Add to War Losses in Korea

Bandit Killed After Kidnapping Woman
A statewide manhunt ended when bandit leader Haven L. Walker, 33, of Los Angeles, was killed by South Gate police after abducting Bonnie Kareis during a robbery near Old River School Road and Firestone Boulevard. Walker, already a parolee for kidnapping and robbery, died from a shot through an automobile window. his unknown partner fled in a stolen car, later abandoned near Rancho Los Amigos Hospital.
