Fascination Promoters to Get City Refund
Promoters of Fascination, a game described as amusement but banned as gambling, will receive 2366.57 of the 2300 they deposited with the city in April 1951 for a license not granted. City Attorney Irving M. Smith's office urged the refund and the council agreed, withholding 433.43 to cover costs from a Gibbs suit. Gibbs, vice president of Fascination, Inc., won one court ruling but an appellate court remanded for a new trial which was not held.

Probe Arson As Sixth Hay Blaze Starts
CYPRESS The sixth fire in recent weeks is believed arson. It destroyed about 230 tons of hay and a hay barn valued at 2000 at the Jake Van Dyke Dairy on 5252 Orange Ave Tuesday night. Van Dyke said he had emptied two barns and feared more arson attacks. County fire officials investigate the possibility of an arsonist in the dairy district. He reported going to the hay barn 15 minutes before the blaze was sighted. The entire hay barn went up in flames in seconds.
