Dynamite Blast Kills One in Plains Fire Fight

A warehouse fire in Plains Texas escalated when two hundred pounds of dynamite exploded as volunteer firefighters battled the flames. One man, George McNab, 35, died in Denver City Hospital from severe burns and shock. Twenty one others were injured, with ten still hospitalized and two in critical condition. The blast shattered windows, knocked down pedestrians, and damaged nearby homes and the courthouse block. Officials cite prior warning to firefighters about the dynamite, with some reports they proceeded anyway.

SANTA MONICA Mrs Elizabeth Wescott Fraps 44 admitted giving sleeping pills in the mercy killing of her mentally retarded 11 year old daughter Joanne. Superior Judge Orlando H Rhodes suspended ongoing proceedings and placed her on five years probation allow ing her to live with her husband Joseph Fraps 44 superintendent at Portsmouth Ohio atomic energy plant. She must continue medical and psychiatric treatment for probation and the court warned against condoning the offense. Fraps has not fully recovered from a chest wound self inflicted. Letters from 12 states and three foreign countries urged clemency.
